A Nadi reading from outside India

A remote reading is possible, and it has one genuine complication: the search starts from a thumb impression, and a thumb impression is a physical thing. Everything on this page is written around that fact rather than around it.

The honest difficulty, stated first

In the room, your thumb is pressed once and the reader has what the search needs. From abroad, that same print has to reach us in a form good enough to classify. A blurred photograph of a smudged ink mark is not good enough, and no honest reader will pretend otherwise.

So the remote process is slower and has one more place it can fail: the print itself. If the impression is unusable it has to be taken again before anything starts. Expect that, rather than assuming one video call settles everything.

A leaf may still not be found. That is true in the room and it is true remotely, and distance does not change it. If nothing matches, we will tell you that instead of offering you something approximate.

How a remote reading runs

The marked specifics are not yet confirmed. Check each one with us on WhatsApp before you start rather than relying on this page.

  1. 1

You message us and we agree a plan

Tell us where you are, what you want to ask, and which languages you are comfortable in. We confirm what is possible before you spend anything.

  2. 2

    You take the thumb impression

Right thumb for men, left thumb for women. Ask us what form the print must be taken in before you take it, because a print that cannot be read means starting again.

  3. 3

    The print reaches us

Ask where to send it and send nothing until you have that answer from us directly. We check the print is usable and say so before the search begins.

  4. 4

    The bundles are searched

This happens without you, and it is the part that takes time. Ask how long to expect once we have a usable print, and treat any room that promises a fixed turnaround with suspicion, because a search has no fixed length.

  5. 5

    Verification on a live call

You must be on the call yourself for this. Lines are read out and you answer yes or no, nothing more. Agree the platform and roughly how long to set aside when the call is arranged.

  6. 6

The chapters are read and recorded

Settle before the reading starts whether you are getting a recording, in what form, and how it reaches you. Afterwards is too late. The six steps in full are on how a Nadi reading works.

Time zones

Chennai runs on Indian Standard Time, five and a half hours ahead of UTC, with no daylight saving. Your own clock may shift twice a year, so the gap between us changes even though ours does not.

  • Gulf states, Singapore, Malaysia: the easiest. An Indian morning is still your morning.
  • United Kingdom and Europe: an Indian afternoon lands in your late morning, which suits both sides.
  • United States and Canada: the hard one. An Indian morning is your previous evening or night. Someone takes an awkward hour, so decide in advance who.
  • Australia and New Zealand: you are ahead of us, so an early Indian slot is your evening.

Send two or three windows in your own local time when you first message, and we will convert them.

Language

The leaf is written in old Tamil poetry and is read aloud in Tamil. That is not a preference, it is what is on the leaf. What happens next depends on you. Tell us which language you want the explanation in when you first write, and we will say whether we can do it.

If you do not follow Tamil, an explanation has to be given alongside the reading. Agree how that is arranged before the call is fixed. People raised abroad often bring a parent onto the call, which works well.

Say which language you want before the call is booked, not at the start of it.

Paying from overseas

This is not settled yet and we will not pretend it is. There is currently no confirmed international payment method on this site. Ask how payment from your country will actually work, and in which currency, before you send a thumb impression or anything else

Ask us on WhatsApp what is working before you make any arrangement. Bank charges and conversion are yours either way, so check with your own bank first. Cost and domestic payment are covered on what a Nadi reading costs and fees and how to pay.

Refunds and what happens when no leaf is found are on the refund and cancellation policy. Read that before paying, not after.

When coming to Chennai is the better answer

If you will be in India within a few months anyway, wait and come. The in-person reading has fewer moving parts, the print is taken correctly first time, and you are in the room while the bundles are searched. Directions are on Nadi astrology in Chennai.

Go remote when there is no trip on the horizon, when the question will not wait, or when travel is not realistic. Plenty of people make that choice.

Nadi readings are a traditional practice. Nothing here is medical, legal or financial advice, and no outcome is guaranteed. Please continue to follow your doctor.

Questions from people abroad

Can I just send a photo of my thumb? +

Ask us first. A photograph of the thumb itself is not the same as an impression, and what we can work from is still an open point. Send a test image on WhatsApp and we will tell you whether it is usable before you pay anything.

Do I still need to be on the call myself? +

Yes, for the verification. Only you can answer yes or no to the lines read from the leaf, and a relative answering on your behalf defeats the point of the check. Once verification is done, others can listen if you want them to.

Can someone else in India get my reading done for me? +

A relative can bring your thumb impression, but they cannot answer the verification for you. If they do, you have no way of knowing whether the leaf is yours, so most people end up doing the call themselves.

Do I need my birth details for an online reading? +

No. Nothing changes remotely. No birth date, no birth time and no star is required, because the search runs from the thumb impression. Why that is so is explained on why a thumbprint finds your leaf.

What happens to my thumb impression afterwards? +

It is personal data and it is handled under India's data protection law. What is collected, how long it is kept and how to ask for it to be deleted are set out in the privacy policy. Ask us directly if anything there is unclear.

Which chapter should I ask for if I only want one? +

Most people abroad start with the first chapter, which covers life broadly, then add the one that matches the question. Other common starting points are answered on the FAQ page.
