CHAPTER 1 OF 12

Chapter 1: your fortune, your character, and the age your life lifts

Chapter 1 is the overview. The Maharishis give the age at which your life begins to lift, then describe your character, your qualities, your physical appearance, what you are able to do and where your limits sit, your soft skills, the money you gain, your longevity, and the comfort and wealth indicated for this birth.

முதல் காண்டம்: வாழ்க்கையின் பொதுவான அமைப்பு.

What this chapter covers

Chapter 1 reads your life in the round rather than one subject at a time. It opens with the age of upliftment, the point from which the Maharishis record that your circumstances begin to rise. That single line often reframes everything a person came in worried about, because it puts the present moment somewhere on a longer line.

The chapter then describes you. Your characteristics and your qualities are set down, and so is your physical appearance, which is one of the things people listen for first, because it is checked against the person sitting in the room. Alongside that come your abilities and your limitations, stated together and without flattery. The leaf does not only list what you are good at.

Your soft skills follow, meaning the way you handle people and situations rather than anything you were taught. After that the chapter turns to money and material life: the monetary gains indicated for you, the material comforts you come to have, and wealth. Longevity is mentioned here too, in the general sense that belongs to an overview rather than the detailed reading it receives later.

Everything in Chapter 1 is written in a generic way, and that is deliberate. Chapters 2 to 12 each take one part of life and go into it in detail. Chapter 1 touches almost all of those parts at once so that you hear the shape of the whole before you hear any one piece of it closely.

Questions this chapter answers

These are the questions Chapter 1 is read to answer. Every one of them comes from what the Maharishis set down in this chapter.

  • At what age does my life begin to lift?
  • What characteristics and qualities are recorded for me?
  • What does the leaf say about my physical appearance?
  • What am I able to do well, and where do my limitations lie?
  • What do the Maharishis say about my soft skills, the way I deal with people?
  • What monetary gains are indicated in this birth?
  • What material comforts and what wealth are shown for me?
  • What is said about my longevity in general terms?

How Chapter 1 sits with the rest

Chapter 1 is the map; the chapters after it are the streets. If you already know the subject you came about, the detail is waiting in the chapter that owns it. Study and speech sit in Chapter 2, education and speech. Money appears again in several chapters, but always tied to its source rather than on its own.

Chapter 1 describes what is written on your leaf. It is not a forecast we make, and it is not a promise about any particular year.

The twelve chapters run in the order the Maharishis set. Beyond them sit the seven special chapters, which are read separately and answer a different kind of question, including questions you write down before the reading begins. How many chapters are read in one sitting is a practical matter rather than a matter of the leaf, and it is agreed with you when you book.

Before any chapter is read, your leaf has to be found. That happens from your thumb impression, and the search is described step by step on how a Nadi reading works, with the reason for the thumbprint set out on the page about why a thumbprint finds your leaf. If you are still deciding whether this is for you, start with what Nadi astrology is.

Nadi readings are a traditional practice. Nothing here is medical, legal or financial advice, and no outcome is guaranteed. Please continue to follow your doctor.

Questions people ask

Do I need my birth date or birth time for Chapter 1? +

No. A Nadi reading starts from your thumb impression, not from a birth chart. Men give the right thumb, women the left. The thumbprint is matched against bundles of leaves until the leaf carrying your details is found, and Chapter 1 is read from that leaf. No birth date, birth time or star is needed at any point.

What does the age of upliftment mean? +

It is the age from which the Maharishis record that your life begins to rise. Chapter 1 states it as part of the general picture, alongside your qualities, your abilities and the wealth and comforts indicated for this birth. It is a description of what is written on your leaf, not a promise about a particular year.

Why does Chapter 1 repeat subjects the later chapters cover? +

Because it is the overview. Chapter 1 touches almost every part of your life in a generic way, while Chapters 2 to 12 take one subject each and go into detail. Hearing Chapter 1 first gives you the shape of the whole life, so the detail in the later chapters has somewhere to sit.

Does Chapter 1 tell me how long I will live? +

Chapter 1 mentions longevity only in the general sense, as one item in the overall picture. The detailed reading of lifespan sits in Chapter 8, which is handled with care. If you would rather not hear that subject at all, say so before the reading begins and it will be left out.

Can I ask my own questions during Chapter 1? +

Chapter 1 is read as it stands on the leaf, so it follows the order the Maharishis set rather than your list. Questions you write down in advance are answered in Prasna Kanda, one of the seven special chapters, and answers that arrive without any question being raised belong to Aasi Kanda.
