CHAPTER 8 OF 12

Chapter 8: longevity, and the way we read a difficult chapter

Chapter 8 records longevity: the age, the month, the day and the approximate time at which the soul departs. It also records the life threatening factors the body passes through before then. It is the hardest chapter in the bundle, and it is opened only when you ask for it.

How we read the difficult chapters

Some chapters are hard to hear. We do not soften them and we do not skip lines. What is written on the leaf is read in full, exactly as the Maharishis set it down.

But a reading is guidance for decisions you still make. It is not a sentence passed on you. Nothing in this chapter removes your choices, your care, or your responsibility for your own health and safety.

And you are told what a chapter contains before it is opened. You decide whether to hear it. Nobody is read a difficult chapter by surprise.

That stance is why this page exists. People search for the longevity chapter quietly, and they deserve to know in advance what they are walking into.

If there is anything in this chapter you would rather not hear, say so before the reading begins rather than part way through it.

What this chapter covers

The chapter speaks about your longevity. It gives the age at which the soul departs and attains the holy feet of the almighty, and with it the month, the day and the approximate time, given in the way the leaf gives it, such as before lunch or after lunch rather than by the clock.

The larger part of the chapter is not that line, though. It is everything before it. Up to that time, the chapter sets out the life threatening factors your body passes through in this birth, and it is the part people actually use.

Each factor is described three ways: how it arises, when it arises, and where. The causes recorded on the leaf include natural calamities, health related troubles, weapons, vehicles, buildings, inappropriate food or medicines, poisonous food, breathing poisonous air, and electrical or electronic items.

Read calmly, that list is a list of ordinary caution. A period marked around vehicles is a period to drive less and check the car. A period marked around food or medicine is a period to be careful about what you take and who prescribes it. The chapter does not ask you to stop living. It asks you to pay attention in specific years rather than in all of them.

Nothing in the chapter is a diagnosis, and nothing in it replaces a doctor, an engineer or a mechanic. It is a traditional text being read aloud, not a medical opinion.

Questions this chapter answers

  • At what age is my longevity shown on the leaf?
  • Which month, day and approximate part of the day are recorded with it?
  • What life threatening factors does my body pass through in this birth before then?
  • How is each of those factors shown to arise, and at what age?
  • Where is each one indicated to happen?
  • Are natural calamities, weapons, vehicles or buildings among the factors in my leaf?
  • Does the chapter mention inappropriate food or medicines, poisonous food, or poisonous air?
  • Are electrical or electronic items recorded as a factor for me?

How chapter 8 sits beside the other chapters

Chapter 8 is the only chapter in the bundle that many people choose to leave closed, and that choice is respected. It is also the chapter most often confused with another one. Health problems, the method of treatment, diet and bad habits are read in chapter 6 on debts, litigation, enemies and illness, not here.

The chapter before it, chapter 7 on the first marriage, is the one most people come for. The chapter after it, chapter 9 on your father and your spiritual path, is where the leaf turns toward the guru and the organs in the body that may trouble you.

People who have heard chapter 8 often ask what can be done about a marked period. That belongs to the seven special chapters, where the Shanti and Dashabukthi chapters deal with karma and with guidance for a specific year, month or day.

If you have not sat for a reading before, how a Nadi reading actually works explains the thumbprint and the verification stage, and the questions people ask before booking answers the practical ones.

Nadi readings are a traditional practice. Nothing here is medical, legal or financial advice, and no outcome is guaranteed. Please continue to follow your doctor.

Questions people ask about chapter 8

Do I have to hear this chapter? +

No. Chapter 8 is opened only when you ask for it. Before it is read you are told what it contains, in plain words, and you can decide at that point to leave it closed and continue with the other chapters. Many people do exactly that, and it changes nothing about the rest of the reading.

Will I be told a date of death? +

The chapter records an age, a month, a day and an approximate part of the day. If you ask for it to be read, that is read as it stands, because we do not edit a leaf. What we will also say is that this is guidance for the decisions ahead of you, not a verdict on them.

I am unwell or anxious at the moment. Should I read it now? +

We would ask you to wait. If you are under treatment or going through a hard period, this chapter is not the place to start, and we will say so rather than take the booking. Speak to your doctor about your health. The other chapters remain available whenever you want them.

Can a remedy change what this chapter says? +

We do not make that promise, and you should be careful with anyone who does. The chapter is read as written. The special chapters describe poojas and guidance the Maharishis recorded, and people follow them by their own faith. No outcome is guaranteed by us, by a pooja, or by a leaf.

Why read this chapter at all? +

Most people who ask for it are not after the last line. They want the part before it: the periods marked around vehicles, food, medicines, buildings or electrical items, and the ages at which those fall. Read that way it is a caution list, and caution is something you can act on.
