CHAPTER 5 · PROGENY

Waiting for a child

Chapter 5 is the progeny chapter. It is read out as written, and it is not medical information. We give no opinion on anyone’s fertility, treatment or body, and nothing said in a reading is a reason to change what your doctor has advised.

Before anything else

People who come with this question have usually been asked about it too many times already, by people who had no business asking. We are not going to add to that.

A Nadi reading is one thing only: a leaf is matched to your thumbprint, and the chapter you ask for is read to you in the Maharishi’s words. It is not an examination, and not a second opinion on anything a doctor has told you. If you are under medical care, that care continues as it is.

We do not diagnose, treat or comment on fertility, and we will not tell you that a reading or a remedy will bring a child. Anyone who tells you otherwise is making a claim the tradition does not make.

What Chapter 5 addresses

Only what is written on your leaf. Most of the chapter is not about the waiting at all. It is about a child’s own life. The full listing is on the children and progeny chapter page. In outline:

  • Progeny, and the timing the leaf records for it.
  • The child’s characteristics and way of living.
  • The child’s education, including whether studying and settling abroad is shown.
  • The child’s marriage, and the relationship between the child and the maternal uncle.
  • Ancestral property, and the fortune to receive it.

What any leaf contains varies. Some chapters are detailed, others say little on a subject. You are told what is there, and nothing that is not.

What happens when you come

The same sequence as any other reading. The full version is on the Nadi process page.

  1. 1

    Your thumb impression is taken

Right thumb for men, left thumb for women. No birth date, birth time or star is needed, and no medical history is asked for or wanted. See why the thumbprint is used.

  2. 2

    Bundles are searched

The print narrows the search to a group of bundles, and leaves from those bundles are read out to you one at a time.

  3. 3

    You answer yes or no

Statements about your name, your parents’ names and your circumstances are read to you, and you confirm or deny each one. This step decides whether a leaf is yours.

  4. 4

    Chapter 5 is read

Once a leaf is matched, the chapter is read to you as written. You are told how long to set aside when you book. What it costs is on the fees page. You can stop the reading at any point.

Couples often come together. Only the person being read needs to give a thumb impression, and the other can sit in or not.

What we will not tell you

Read this before you book. It is the honest boundary of what we do.

  • We will not tell you why you do not have a child. That is a medical question, and it is not ours to answer.
  • We will not advise on fertility, treatment, medicines, diet or any procedure, and we will not tell you to start, stop or change treatment. Speak to your doctor.
  • We will not promise you a child, and we will not tell you a remedy will bring one. No reading here comes with a guarantee attached.
  • We will not give you a date to hold onto as a certainty. Where the leaf records a period, that is read out as a period.
  • We will not tell you to leave a marriage, remarry, adopt or not adopt on the strength of one sentence from a leaf. Those decisions are yours, and they deserve more than one sentence.
  • We will not say anything about your body, or your partner’s body, at any point in the reading.

If the reading is going somewhere you do not want to go, say so and it stops.

Where to read next

The chapter itself is set out on the Chapter 5 progeny page. For the broad picture of a life rather than one subject, Chapter 1 covers most areas generally, and marriage is Chapter 7.

Booking questions are on the FAQ page, and what Nadi astrology is explains the method before you commit to anything.

Nadi readings are a traditional practice. Nothing here is medical, legal or financial advice, and no outcome is guaranteed. Please continue to follow your doctor.

Questions people ask

Can a Nadi reading help us conceive? +

No, and we would not claim it. A reading is a chapter of a palm leaf read out to you. It is not treatment, it has no medical effect, and it is not a substitute for medical care. Anyone who tells you a reading or a ritual will bring a child is claiming more than the tradition does.

Should we tell you about our medical history first? +

No. We do not ask for it and we do not need it. The reading works from a thumb impression and from yes or no answers to statements read off the leaf. Please keep medical details between yourselves and your doctor.

Whose leaf should be read, the husband’s or the wife’s? +

Each person has their own leaf, and each leaf has its own Chapter 5. Some couples have one reading done, some have both. Talk it over with us before you book, and only the person being read needs to give a thumb impression.

What if we do not want to hear certain things? +

Say so at the start and the reading stays away from it. You can also stop at any point, for any reason, and you do not have to explain why. This is a chapter being read aloud to you, not a process you are committed to finishing.

Do we need birth details? +

No. No birth date, no birth time and no star is needed. The leaf is found from a thumb impression, right thumb for men and left thumb for women, and then confirmed through the verification questions before any chapter is read.
