CHENNAI ยท VILLIVAKKAM

Nadi astrology in Chennai

We read Nadi leaves in person at Agathiyar Nagar, Villivakkam, in north-west Chennai. You come with your thumb and your questions. No birth date, no birth time and no star are needed, and you do not have to travel to the delta to have a leaf read.

Where to find us

The reading room is at No. 48, 5th Street, Ponvizha Nagar, Agathiyar Nagar, Villivakkam, Chennai 600049. Villivakkam sits inland from the Inner Ring Road, between Perambur and Ambattur, and Agathiyar Nagar is one of the residential blocks off the main road, so the last stretch is narrow streets rather than a main-road frontage.

Visits: by appointment. Message or call to fix a time.

Villivakkam has its own suburban railway station on the line out of Chennai Central towards Avadi and Arakkonam, and that is the simplest way in. From the station it is a short auto ride. If you are driving, ask for Agathiyar Nagar rather than the house number, which local drivers place more easily.

Message us on WhatsApp before you set out and we will send the live location pin. The map is on the contact page.

Which parts of Chennai people travel from

Villivakkam is easy from the north and west of the city and awkward from the south. Plan the day around that.

Anna Nagar, Ambattur, Padi, Korattur

The closest neighbourhoods. Most people from here drive or take an auto and are at the door in well under half an hour outside peak traffic.

Perambur, Kolathur, Vyasarpadi

One or two stops away on the same suburban line. The train is usually faster than the road here.

T. Nagar, Mylapore, Egmore

Central Chennai. Take the suburban train from Chennai Central and get down at Villivakkam rather than fighting the Poonamallee High Road traffic.

Velachery, Adyar, OMR and the IT corridor

The long haul. People coming from Sholinganallur or Siruseri usually pick a mid-morning slot rather than trying to come after work.

Tambaram, Chromepet, Porur, Poonamallee

Suburban rail into Central and out again on the Arakkonam line is the predictable route.

From outside Chennai

People arrive from Coimbatore, Madurai, Trichy and Bengaluru, and from the Gulf through Chennai airport. Send us your arrival time and we will try to fit the visit to the same day.

What to bring

Almost nothing. The search runs on your thumb impression, which is taken in the room, so there is no paperwork to prepare.

  • Your thumb. Right thumb for men, left thumb for women. That is the whole of what the search needs.
  • The names of your parents, roughly as they are used at home. These come up during verification.
  • A short written list of what you actually want to ask. People forget half of it once the reading starts.
  • One family member if you would like company. Bring no more than that, the room is small.
  • Time. Keep the rest of the day free rather than booking something straight afterwards, because a search has no fixed length.

What you do not need: a horoscope, a birth certificate, a janma kundali, a birth time from your mother's memory, or a star name. If you have never had a chart cast, it changes nothing. The difference is explained on Nadi reading compared with a birth chart, and the thumb itself on why a thumbprint finds your leaf.

What a visit actually looks like

  1. 1

    Your thumb impression is taken

It takes a minute. The print is classified, and that classification points to a group of leaf bundles rather than to one leaf.

  2. 2

You wait while the bundles are searched

This is the part people do not expect. Sit, have water, and be patient. The waiting is the work.

  3. 3

Verification, answered only yes or no

Lines are read out and you answer yes or no. Do not explain and do not fill in a half-right answer. A reading is only worth having if the verification was honest.

  4. 4

The chapters you asked for are read

Once the leaf is agreed, the reading moves to the chapters that match your question, from the general first chapter to marriage, career or children.

  5. 5

    You leave with the recording

The full six-step account, including what happens if no leaf is found, is set out on how a Nadi reading works.

Nadi readings are a traditional practice. Nothing here is medical, legal or financial advice, and no outcome is guaranteed. Please continue to follow your doctor.

If a leaf that matches you is not found, we say so. That is a real outcome and it happens. It is not a reason to keep searching until something is made to fit.

Questions people in Chennai ask

Do I need to go to Vaitheeswaran Koil instead? +

No. The reading depends on the leaf and the person reading it, not on the postcode. The delta town is where the tradition took root, and that history is worth knowing, which is why we wrote about Vaitheeswaran Koil and the leaves. You can have the same reading in Villivakkam.

Can I come without an appointment? +

Message or call first. A search can run long, and if someone is already mid-reading you would be waiting outside for a while. A quick WhatsApp saves you the trip.

I am in Chennai for two days only. Is that enough? +

Usually yes, if you tell us in advance. People fly into Chennai airport for exactly this and go back the same week. Send your dates on WhatsApp before you book flights so we can tell you honestly whether the days work.

What does it cost, and how do I pay? +

Costs depend on how many chapters you read, so we have set them out on their own page rather than quoting a number here. See what a Nadi reading costs for the question of price and fees and how to pay for the payment methods themselves.

Can my parents come if they only speak Tamil? +

Yes. The leaf is written in old Tamil and read aloud in Tamil, so an older Tamil-speaking relative often follows the verification better than the person it is about. Bring one companion if you want to, and tell us in advance so there is room.

I live abroad and cannot come to Chennai at all. +

There is a remote route, and it has real limits because a thumb impression is a physical thing. We have written about it plainly on a Nadi reading from outside India. More general questions are answered on the FAQ page.
